Doing Life With Your Adult Children | Thursday Nights | 7pm to 9pm October 22 - November 12, 2026 | Upper Room
We will be working through the book: Doing Life with Your Adult Children: Keep Your Mouth Shut and the Welcome Mat Out, by Christian parenting expert Jim Burns. He offers practical guidance for maintaining a loving, healthy relationship with grown children while respecting their independence. He encourages parents to replace control, criticism, and unsolicited advice with listening, encouragement, appropriate boundaries, and steady hospitality, even when their children make regrettable choices. From a distinctly Christian perspective, Burns presents parents as faithful examples whose influence comes less through pressure or preaching than through prayer, grace, compassion, and an authentic life of faith. The book's central message is that parents should entrust their adult children to God, care for their own emotional and spiritual health, and keep the relationship open so that love and Christian witness can endure across generations.
