1. What grades can come to CCO Jr High?

CCO Jr High is for those in 6th-8th grade

2. Who is in charge of CCO Jr High?

RJ Orason is the Junior High Pastor. He has been doing Jr High ministry since 2012. He is married to his wife Chelsea and they have one kid. You can contact RJ via email: [email protected].

3. When does CCO Jr High meet?

CCO Jr High meets on Wednesday night for Youth Group. Drop off and pick up is located outside on the West Sign of the building. There are signs to help direct you to the right spot. We also meet during Sunday Services for both the 9 am and 11am services starting in the Main Sanctuary for worship and finishing in the Jr High room with a game and lesson. Currently, we do not meet during the Saturday Night Service.

4. What is Youth Group, and is my child supposed to register before coming?

Youth Group takes place every Wednesday night from 6:30-8:30pm. This is a high-energy night where students are able to connect with leaders, friends, and, most importantly, God. Youth Group is the number one way for your child to get connected in CCO Jr High because of our small group time that is divided by grade.

If your child has never been and is not in a small group, there is no need to pre-register. They will be put into a small group when they show up based on their grade.

5. Do I need to check my child in?

No, you do not. On Sunday mornings, Students can check themselves in after worship. Then, on Wednesday, all students are checked in by their small group leaders when we take attendance.

6. What does a typical Youth Group or weekend service look like?

Youth Group always include: a fun game, a time of worship, a message, and small group time. Weekend church service also includes a game, but instead of small group we have a longer worship and teaching time.

7. Can you please tell me more about your small group leaders?

We currently have between 10-20 small group leaders serving with us at Youth Group. These leaders are at least 18 years old and have been cleared to serve with minors. Clearance includes an application, and interview, verified references, being fingerprinted (Live Scan), and being cleared with Calvary Chapel Oceanside staff.

8. How can I get in contact with my student’s small group leaders?

Please contact Pastor RJ first. He may be able to help your needs or questions. If not, we can work on getting you in contact with the small group leader.

9. How do parents stay connected with what’s going on CCO Jr High?

The number one way to stay connected with all things at Calvary Chapel Oceanside is to download the CCO App and make sure you have push notifications on. In your settings make sure you have Jr High notifications turn on. You can also follow us on instagram @ccojuniorhigh for photos and updates of all things Jr High related.

10. How can parents get involved with CCO Jr High?

Parents can serve on our Safety Team or as a Small Group Leader. They can also open up their home or yard for events. Let RJ know if you’d like to get involved somehow.
