Chris was born on May 28, 1963 in Los Angeles, California. Unlike the many dark or unhappy childhood memories of many Christians, including some of these staff biographies, Chris had a wonderful childhood with two loving parents who stayed together and set a good example in the home. Though she didn't go to church as a child with her family, she did remember that a bus from a local church would drive through her neighborhood every Sunday picking up children whose parents would allow them to go to Sunday school. The little "prize" (a craft item) she would receive attracted Chris by attending and so she began to go. The Sunday School itself was not a huge hit for Chris, but the times off by herself--and God's "little seeds" planted during those times made the whole experience special and lasting.
Her high school years were typical in many ways--happy times mixed in with struggles and some rebellion as well, but she received a "wake-up call" in her senior year when she suffered a car accident, rolling her car. "It was a turning point in my life," Chris says. It was the time when she realized just how precious and fleeting life is. It was also during this time that she began to sense a deepening relationship with the "boy next door" Peter Forbes. In November 1981 she and Pete were married. Since then, this wonderful couple has been blessed with three children, Amber, Brandon, and Brianna. They have deeply involved themselves in a number of on-going ministries (including Jr. High and High School, Women's Bible Study and Calvary Kids Club) within our church. Presently, Chris serves as the Church Bookkeeper. |
